European Athletics Championships 2006, ANR BBDO

Kaktus Film has brought life to the official mascot of the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg 2006. The character is a curiously jolly and very plucky Crane designed by illustrator Christina Leanderz.

The hand drawn mascot was first converted into 3D and then carefully animated to keep the hand drawn feel but add a traditional cartoon style to its motions.The first part of the project was to make a presentational movie that was presented at the athlete stadium “Nya Ullevi” on the classical Sweden-Finland competition “Finnkampen” 2004. Kaktus Film handled the whole project from hand drawn sketch to finished movie. Collaborating ad agency was Gothenburg based ANR-BBDO.
